When should I go?
At any time of the year. The climate of Zanzibar allows you to relax on the island all year round. Even in the rainy season – at the very end of November and from March to May – the weather is favorable for guests – it usually rains at night and early in the morning. And the daytime remains sunny and hot. But in the “rainy season” Zanzibar will please you with very attractive prices.
How do I get to Zanzibar?
It’s very simple – a visa is issued at the airport upon arrival, for 3 months and costs $ 50. You may be asked to pay for your visa on arrival with a Visa or Mastercard bank card, so don’t forget to take it with you. If you want to arrange it before your trip, you can also do it in Moscow for $ 60.You can fly to Zanzibar comfortably on regular flights operated by Qatar Airways, Flydubai, Turkish Airlines, Air France, KLM, Oman Air, , Ethiopian Airlines. If you choose a route with a transfer in the Middle East, you will spend only 10 to 16 hours on the way, including the time spent on the transfer.
You can also get to the island from Moscow on a charter flight of Rossiya Airlines, without transfers, in 8-9 hours.
Should I get vaccinated?
If you feel better, you can get a yellow fever vaccination 10 days before the trip, but it is mandatory only if you plan to cross the Kenyan border – for example, for safari. There are no mandatory vaccinations for a trip to Zanzibar.
Which resort should I go to?
The beaches of Zanzibar are connected into a single coastline. Many, many kilometers of fine white sand stretch around the entire island, so when choosing a resort in Zanzibar, first of all it is worth focusing on the activity of the ocean — and it’s not at all about the waves. The tides are very pronounced on the island. Their schedules are even posted in most hotels.
The sea retreats the least from the coast in the north and northwest of the island – in the resorts of Nungwi and Kendwa, in the northeast, in the resort of Kiwengwa, the tide will be much more noticeable, in the east – on the famous beaches of the resorts of Matemwe and Uroa, the water will go even further at low tide. In the south-west of the island – in the resorts of Pingwe and Dongwe, the tides are the strongest on the island, and the resort of Piaget is suitable for carefree youth and lovers of kitesurfing.Low tide time can be great for excursions, safari tours, snorkeling or diving.
